Does practice make perfect?

Post performance analysis is critical in improvement in any performance related field, it’s as relevant in Trading as it is in something like sports, yet most Traders neglect it, or worse ignore it altogether.

Malcolm Gladwell believes that 10,000 hours of practice is what’s needed to become an expert in any field. However, just blindly practicing or going through mindless repetitions does not move you forward. A better view on practice comes from psychologist Anders Erricson.  In his book – Peak, he develops the theory of Deliberate Practice which refers to a special type of practice that is purposeful and systematic. It is through this type of practice that traders can evolve.
